Every scar has its own story. They are memories for drastic moments in our lives. They are traces of our individual story. But scars do not fit into the european ideal of beauty. The western ideal of beauty is to be perfect, spotless without traces of life, without wrinkles, without scars - forever young. Cosmetic surgery became more and more popular over the last years. They conserve this ideal of beauty or re-create it. Most scars can be removed by laser and we don't have to live with them. In contrast to that, in Africa for example scars are thought to beautify the body.
A scar could be something we can be proud of. It would be nice to keep them. Therefore I created a collection of golden scars, to have something beautiful we can keep while we laser the real one away. Something we are proud of and something we want to show. Every person can have his own scar-collection, which is very individual because it is connected to the story of someone's life.
